'Oustanding' Clayesmore Prep Say Ofsted
Clayesmore Prep School’s boarding provision has just received an overall quality rating of ‘outstanding’ from the Ofsted boarding inspectors. The judgement of outstanding means that particular aspects are of an ‘exceptionally high quality’ and, in an inspection assessing the national minimum standards of boarding schools, ‘many standards have been exceeded’ according to the report.
The strength of relationships between boarders and boarding staff was praised in the report which particularly noted that ‘the complement of boarding staff creates a family atmosphere where boarders feel secure and happy’.
There are many boarders from military families and the inspector found that the high level of liaison with the Ministry of Defence enabled the school to ‘respond to the added difficulties that may arise with families posted overseas’ and that the families ‘welcomed this sensitive approach’.
The inspectors found that the children were well behaved and ‘encouraged to represent themselves and the school with pride’ and that Clayesmore Prep is outstanding at helping children to achieve well and enjoy what they do.
Promotion of equality and diversity in the school is outstanding and for the Inspector is summed up by one boarder, “Whatever you are like, you are accepted. It doesn’t matter if you are different.”
Says Richard Geffen, Head of Prep, “To receive the highest accolade of outstanding is incredibly gratifying. All the staff here work extremely hard to provide the best and most fulfilling boarding experience and, even though the inspection report focuses on boarding, in reflects the care and support that envelops all the day and boarding children here. We are delighted that this has been recognised.”
