Prep School Receives the Keys to New £1.5 Million Building
The Prep School received the keys to its magnificent new £1.5 million academic building this week, the latest development in a collection of buildings at Clayesmore designed by Philip Proctor Associates.
Head of Prep, Richard Geffen, governors and staff joined everybody involved in the project for the official hand-over from Graham Kick, the site manager for Hammond and Sons, the builders.
The two storey building is an imposing new landmark that transforms the main approach to the Prep School. It is located in a central position alongside the main buildings and the brand new Pre-Prep complex that was opened last year.
The building is light and airy, giving a feeling of space and warmth. On the ground floor are four new classrooms for Years 3 and 4 and a wonderfully light Hall area for group work. On the first floor are situated two state of the art Science Laboratories for years 5 to 8 and the main Geography Room. The top floor provides residential accommodation for staff, with a common room available for residents and for meetings.
There will be an official launch in the autumn, but staff and pupils are already excited by the new build and are clearly looking forward to working in it from September.
