Senior School Curriculum ICT

Information and Communications Technology

Joining the ICT department at Clayesmore you will experience the latest in information technology. Throughout your time in the lower school you will have the opportunity to study for the ECDL ( European Computer Driving Licence) which will lead you through the latest desktop applications including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation graphics. When you have completed your studies you will be awarded the ECDL certificate, which is equivalent to a grade B at GCSE. If you decide to take your studies to a greater depth you can opt to study GCSE ICT in year 10. If you are interested in robotics, programming and web design then you will thoroughly enjoy this course and will be very successful.

We hope that many of the pupils who have completed their GCSE in ICT will opt to carry the subject on into the 6th form where they develop advance e-commerce web site design and database administration skills at A-level standard. From here this experience and knowledge is used as a platform to move forward to studying this subject at under-graduate level.

Throughout your time at Clayesmore you will be encouraged to use technology to assist you in your learning. We want you to enjoy using all the technology but it is important too that you learn to use it safely and responsibly. You will have access to a campus wide secure wireless network as well as broadband internet connectivity on the latest in desktop PCs. If you have your own notebook PC you will be very welcome to join our network and receive the fullest support form our technical support.
