Inspectors See Excellence at Clayesmore
Academic standards rising above the national average, outstanding pastoral care, excellent extra-curricular activities, and articulate, culturally, morally and spiritually aware pupils are amongst the key findings of the latest Independent Schools’ Inspectorate report on Clayesmore Senior School.
Clayesmore is a school that ‘lives its mission’ in discovering and developing the unique gifts of every girl and boy, with many pupils reaching beyond their academic expectations. The inspectors found that the school’s philosophy of treating every pupil as an individual was amply illustrated, not just in the classroom, but through the strength of the house system too. “The quality of pastoral care is outstanding. Relationships between pupils and staff and amongst the pupils themselves are excellent and reinforce the culture of mutual support.”
There was praise for the teachers for their well-planned and effective teaching and for their demand for high standards. The pupils, too, had clearly shone for their excellent behaviour, hard work, and their positive and purposeful approach to all aspects of life in their school.
Says Headmaster, Martin Cooke: “This report comes hot on the heels of a great deal of success and growth at Clayesmore since our last report in 2001 There is much in it over which every member of the Clayesmore community can be very proud but we have no intention of being complacent. We want to be the best Clayesmore that we can be and we will strive for ever higher standards and ever better teaching and support for our pupils in every possible way. Click here for the ISI Report
