CCF
The Clayesmore Combined Cadet Force offers our pupils a whole realm of activity, adventure and opportunity. We have both Army and Royal Air Force sections and all year 10 pupils join the CCF, after which it becomes optional. A good number of senior cadets stay on into year 11 and the Sixth Form becoming NCOs and they much enjoy the opportunity this gives to practise their leadership skills and help the younger cadets. An army section cadet will learn basic fieldcraft, rifle drill, drill at arms, first aid, life saving and some theory and will then have the chance to go to annual camp which is usually just after the end of the summer term at Penhale in Cornwall. RAF cadets will cover what is called RAF Part 1 and have opportunities to fly several times a year. The Officer Commanding is Major Steven Smith whose principal role at Clayesmore is Head of Physics and he is assisted by a number of other full time staff toegether with WO1 Colin Evans APTC.
